We know modern companies must be agile, adaptable, and innovative in today's fast-paced business environment. We have, therefore, developed a current human resources model that adjusts to the needs of contemporary hiring procedures.
This model, which enables our employees worldwide to develop collaboratively and support one another in realizing their potential, has been embraced by our workforce. See our exclusive interview with one of our own today for a better understanding.
Beril, thank you for making this interview with us. Could you please tell us about your journey in the telecom industry and how you became a voice team leader? Additionally, how did you and Qoolize decide to work together?
I had been thinking about being a part of an industry that is more dynamic and toward the future. Some of my close friends already worked in the telecom sector, so I was familiar with the idea. Then, we met with the Qoolize team and discussed the opportunities in the telecom sector and the company. This was the start of my journey at Qoolize. Becoming a Voice Team Leader in the telecom industry involves a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience. It is a gradual process that requires dedication, continuous learning, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities. I strove to excel in my current role, sought growth opportunities, and demonstrated my potential as a capable and influential leader in the telecom industry. With the help of my previous experience as an account manager, I became a team leader.
Living in another country is challenging; how did you decide to live in Ireland?
Yes, it is! Especially the weather is so different than what I was used to. Almost every day is rainy and dark, opposite of Turkey. But, I believe joining in a new culture is a lifetime experience. We always wanted to live abroad, even for a small part of our lives. My husband took a job offer from Ireland, and I have been working remotely (thanks to Qoolize ). So we used an opportunity to move here after considering the nature, culture, and language.
Was it hard to adapt to a new culture? What do you like most and still need to get used to in Ireland?
Irish people are so friendly and warm. This made it easier for us to get used to the country. But of course, sometimes we feel like strangers and don't understand what's happening cause the Turkish culture is so far different. All in all, we are glad to move here. The thing I like most is nature and Guinness pint. It is evergreen that you can't get enough for. But the weather is challenging. I still have time to get used to it, but I'm afraid I will never.
Witnessing the tangible results of my team's efforts is a source of pride.
As a voice team leader, what are some of the most rewarding aspects of your profession?
The telecom industry constantly evolves, offering opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies and stay at the forefront of industry trends. Being part of advancements in voice communication is both exciting and fulfilling. Also, successfully leading and delivering voice-related projects are immensely rewarding. Witnessing the tangible results of my team's efforts is a source of pride. But mainly, ensuring high-quality voice services for customers contributes to their satisfaction and trust in the services provided by my company. Knowing that we're enabling seamless communication for people is gratifying.
I do my best to ensure team members understand each other's roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
You likely interact with diverse teams and individuals as a voice team leader. How do you foster collaboration and inclusivity within your team?
Fostering collaboration and inclusivity is an ongoing effort that requires continuous attention and adaptation by creating an environment where all team members feel valued and heard. We can promote a culture of mutual respect and effective teamwork. However, I believe that the critical point is open and transparent communication. I do my best to ensure team members understand each other's roles, responsibilities, and expectations. Also, I established a culture of regular feedback. I am encouraging team members to provide constructive feedback to each other, fostering continuous improvement.
How do you and your team stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the rapidly evolving telecom industry?
Staying up-to-date on any topic requires a proactive approach and a commitment to lifelong learning. For this reason, I try to build a culture of continuous learning within my team and support team members in dedicating time to self-study. Also, we attend a lot of conferences every year. These events provide learning opportunities from experts, networking, and discovering emerging technologies. Being in touch with our providers and partners is another option, too. But of course, in the internet age, having access to knowledge is more accessible with online resources such as industry blogs, forums, webinars, and online courses.
What key milestones or goals do you hope to achieve in your current role and beyond?
First, my main goal is to build a reputation as a respected leader within the telecom industry through speaking engagements, industry publications, and participation in relevant forums and conferences. But before this, I aim to contribute to developing long-term voice network strategies that align with the organization's goals and position it for future growth and innovation. These goals reflect the dual nature of my role as a voice team leader, ensuring technical excellence in voice network management while fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking team culture.
I use effective time management techniques to prioritize tasks.
Balancing work and personal life can be challenging, especially in demanding roles. How do you manage to maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Working remotely makes me more flexible and helps me better accommodate my commitments. I use effective time management techniques to prioritize tasks. I am focusing on high-priority and impactful tasks during work hours to increase productivity and create more time for my activities. My physical health is my priority through regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep. A healthy body supports better overall well-being and, of course, for work life.
What advice would you give aspiring professionals interested in pursuing a career in the telecom industry, particularly in voice?
The telecom industry is rapidly evolving. They need to be ready to commit to lifelong learning by staying updated with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices through courses, certifications, workshops, and industry publications. I strongly advise them to seek internships or entry-level positions to gain practical experience. Even customer support or network operations roles can provide valuable insights into how voice networks function. The main idea is staying curious and being open to exploring new possibilities.
Lastly, what is your all-time favorite book and movie?
My all-time favorite movies are the trio of The Lord of the Rings, and book is A Thousand Splendid Suns.
