Developing Sphera for connectivity management

The way businesses provision their internet connectivity is slow and outdated, which is why we built our connectivity management tool: Sphera.

As internet connectivity becomes more essential to how businesses operate, the process of sourcing and managing network services hasn’t kept pace. For companies operating across multiple regions, finding the right Internet Service Provider (ISP) for each site can still be surprisingly complex. Sphera is Qoolize’s bespoke connectivity management tool, built in collaboration with specialist telecom Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) partner, Trunkstar, and designed to simplify and centralize how companies search for, compare, and commission ISPs worldwide.

Companies depend on the internet more than ever before – it’s almost become a natural resource in its levels of importance – and that dependency is only going to grow as remote work, international collaboration, and next-generation, web-based technologies come to the fore. Robust connectivity is key for businesses to operate, but the way in which ISPs are sourced and last-mile providers are onboarded needed to change.

“Global businesses are relying more heavily on cloud services, remote work, and data-driven technologies like AI and machine learning,” comments Elisavet Pliakopanou, our Head of Product Development. “But the infrastructure supporting all that connectivity hasn’t become any easier to manage. Most companies still need to identify local last-mile providers manually, often using spreadsheets and emails.”

With more than 95% of businesses expected to be cloud-based by the end of 2025, that disconnect between infrastructure needs and the user experience of sourcing connectivity is becoming harder to ignore.

Designing a practical tool for real-world needs

Sphera was conceived as a practical response to this gap. The goal wasn’t to build another overly technical platform but something straightforward: a tool that lets users enter a location, see which ISPs serve it, view live pricing, and begin the provisioning process all in one place.

Despite having the option to build it entirely in-house, Qoolize partnered with Trunkstar, a telecom SaaS company that brought both software expertise and a shared philosophy about usability. “We knew what the product needed to do, and we had a very clear view of the customer journey,” says Elisavet. “Trunkstar helped us deliver it to market quickly without compromising on experience.”

That speed to market was significant. Within six months, the joint team had developed a platform capable of aggregating and standardizing ISP data across more than 100 countries. Every provider presents its data differently, but Sphera simplifies it into a consistent, user-friendly interface.

Importantly, the platform is vendor-agnostic. Qoolize doesn’t promote one provider over another, and pricing is shown in a neutral format to help users make informed decisions. The focus is on transparency and simplicity, whether the user is a network engineer, a procurement officer, or a startup founder choosing an ISP for their first office.

Managing the connectivity lifecycle

Beyond its search and comparison features, Sphera was developed as a tool that can support the entire lifecycle of connectivity management, including billing, support, and even AI-assisted issue resolution in the future.

“Ultimately, we want to make it easier for businesses to manage everything in one place,” says Edgar Navarro, Business Development Director. “That includes everything from the first search to contract management and customer support.”

The idea of creating a marketplace for connectivity – similar in approach to large, global consumer platforms but focused on business infrastructure, guided much of the early development. Accessibility and ease of use were core design priorities. A deliberate effort was made to remove technical jargon and present options in a way that any user could understand.

What’s next for Sphera

With the platform now live and supporting ISP sourcing in over 120 countries, Qoolize and Trunkstar are working on a second phase of development. Plans include a more powerful in-platform search engine to improve speed and relevance of results, upgraded financial reporting tools, and more sophisticated automation features. There’s also potential to explore AI integration for recommendation and support tasks.

“Our roadmap is driven by what users want,” comments Tiffany Skinner, Global Internet Lead and Commercial Director for Qoolize. “We’re constantly looking at how to improve navigation, reduce time-to-decision, and remove unnecessary steps in the journey.”

Sphera is part of a wider vision for how Qoolize sees connectivity being managed in the future: fast, transparent, and accessible, regardless of geography or technical knowledge.

As companies continue to grow their digital footprints, tools like Sphera will make one essential part of that journey – staying connected – a little bit easier.
